Meet Peggy, a frank woman who suffered no fools and had a gift and affinity for creative cursing. You are guaranteed to laugh, are just as likely to cry, and could very well be offended before you finish this book.
With her own parents out of the picture before she was 10, Peggy first married at 13 and became a mother nine months later. Like most everything in her life, romance didn’t come easy for her. Her dates were often hilarious disasters in the brief respites between calamitous marriages. But her final marriage stuck and produced its own legacy of comedic moments.
Having only her wits and intuition as her guide, she managed to raise eleven children, usually with precious few resources. Her fifth son, William A. Browning, wrote this book as both a tribute to her imperishable spirit and a testimony of their offbeat relationship. Shopping expeditions, jaunts to the bingo hall, doctor appointments, or trips out for ice cream — pedestrian events with other people — were memorable with her.
Readers have described Browning's writing as something between David Sedaris funny and Garrison Keillor folksy. He’s been writing for more than 20 years. This is his first published collection.
A Hundred Coloring Books eBook William A Browning
The title of this wonderful, beautifully-written book refers to not only the day that the author was discovered by his mother experimenting with her cosmetics and costume jewelry, but to the growth throughout the tale of her acceptance, and embrace of, her son and his difference. It's a powerful chapter, possibly the most powerful in the book. Peggy was quite a gal. A Hundred Coloring Books begins with her funeral, and ends with her death. In between, we meet, and never want to lose the company of, Peggy, a feisty, frank, always involved child of the Depression who married for the first of five pragmatic times at age 13. In my heart, she literally came alive. I can only imagine how much more vibrant the memories are in the hearts of her children and grandchildren. William Browning shares Peggy with us in such a way that we admire this woman with all her strengths and vulnerabilities. She said what was on her mind -- even when it was to ask the author who was the top and who was the bottom in his relationship with "that fella with the small penis". You can't make this stuff up. Well, I suppose you can, but you'd probably get your typing fingers washed off with pretty harsh soap by your mother. Oh, heck, I can't do this wonderwork justice in a little review. You're just going to have to invest the $5.99 and see for yourself, and I urge you to do so. Ten stars, my friends, and yes I do know five's the limit here.Product details

A Hundred Coloring Books eBook William A Browning Reviews
If you are a Sedaris fan, this author takes it one step further. I loved, loved, loved this book. So many laugh out loud moments. It is the perfect summer beach day read. Enjoy!!!!
I`ve been a fan of Bill Browning since the Myspace blog heyday. This author has the ability to make me laugh out loud & move me to tears, often in the same paragraph. Buy this book & any other book he publishes. You will not be disappointed! I promise.
I read some of these when they were in Blog form and loved them then. It was like reading them all for the first time again with this book. I still laughed and cried at the appropriate places. Love this book!!!
This is the best book I have read in quite some time. A hilariously funny, honest look at the beautiful relationship between a mother and the son who loved her. I laughed until I cried.
Thank you,Reno Romero, for turning me on to this book. Thank you Bill, for writing it.
A Hundred Coloring Books is one of those books- you can't put it down - yet, you don't want it to end! I laughed and cried getting to know Bill and Peggy and now that the book is finished- I miss them. I will read this book again and can't help wondering who would play them in a movie. The wedding scene would leave an audience roaring with laughter! William A. Browning is a talented, attentive and sensitive writer. Buy this book!! I'm so happy I did!
I never get tired of reading about Peggy and all her dating mishaps and her true love for her children. Bill has so kindly blessed upon us stories of Peggy from her youth to her passing. In reading along you find kinship with her. You will laugh out loud and you will shed tears. This book is among the most beloved in my collection if nothing more than for the sheer truth, honesty and real life events anyone can relate to. Bill, thank you for publishing this. It's brightened my life. Peggy was blessed to have you. Truly like finding a moon pie in a box of graham crackers. I would love to see this on film someday!
I have been reading William Browning's blogs about is mother for years and was so excited when he published his e-book, I bought it and don't even own an e-reader.
Not only will you laugh, you will laugh out loud until the tears are rolling down your face and if you're not careful you might wet your pants.
I just hope enough books sell that he will be encouraged to write more books.
